Dalits and Adivasis

The most of the Christians in the Jeypore Evangelical Lutheran Church (JELC) are Dalits (oppressed people) and Adivasis (indigenous people). Above you see the Bishop and the people from Devighat...

These are the children of the Child Development Centre in Devighat, showing us their welcome ceremony. Through this institution the JELC is recruiting sponsorship all over the world for the education of children from poor family-background.

Driving through countryside, we often stopped to take pictures of the idyllic landscape. Beneath one of the typical rice-fields of Adivasi-people.

On Sundays Adivasi come to the market along the main road and sell their products.

Woman wear beautiful clothes on market day and cows also have a look at the goods ;-).

As distances are long from village to town and transport is expensive, one has to share a car with lots of people. I don't know how many fit to an Indian car, but sitting on the roof while driving normal speed, you have to have faith to the driver.

This kind of tree, seems to be almost dead, but suddenly red blossoms cover it and it looks beautiful in the wide landscape.
